Chōshō-ji, Buddhist temple in Zaimokuza, Japan
The temple grounds contain numerous Buddhist statues, including a prominent figure of Nichiren accompanied by four Heavenly Kings near the entrance gate.
Founded by Ishii Nagakatsu in 1263, Chōshō-ji stands as one of three temples claiming to be the location where Buddhist teacher Nichiren developed his teachings.
The temple hosts the annual Daikokutōe Seiman Matsuri Ceremony on February 11, gathering 150 Nichiren priests who perform rituals for Japan's protection.
Visitors can reach Chōshō-ji by taking a fifteen-minute walk southeast from Kamakura station or using bus routes 30 and 40 from Zushi station.
The Hokke-dō, serving as the main hall, holds the status of Important Cultural Property and contains notable artifacts including a gong and lacquered table.
