Mt. Shiomi

Mt. Shiomi is a summit in the Akaishi Mountains with two main peaks, the eastern one reaching higher than the western one. The peaks are connected by a ridge system with several trails and viewpoints along the crest.

The mountain was incorporated into Japan's geographical surveying programs, with reference points on the peaks serving as anchors for mapping work. These markers played a key role in creating accurate maps of the country's mountainous regions.

The mountain holds spiritual significance for local communities, with trails connecting sacred sites that residents and pilgrims have traveled for generations. People still use these paths as part of their relationship with the landscape.

The climb requires good preparation and advance registration at the mountain hut, as most visitors plan for a two-day trip. Bring warm clothing, as conditions at the top can turn cold quickly, especially in the morning and evening.
