Mount Kita, Mountain summit in Minami-Alps National Park, Japan
Mount Kita is a mountain summit in Minami-Alps National Park formed from sedimentary rock layers and rising to 3,193 meters. Its eastern face displays a continuous rock wall that extends more than 600 meters vertically.
The official height of the summit was redetermined in 2004 when the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan installed an updated triangulation point. This remeasurement replaced earlier data and remains the standard today.

The climb from Hirogawara trailhead takes around 6 to 8 hours and follows narrow paths with some steep sections. The descent typically requires 3 to 5 hours and demands attention on loose ground.
The slopes support Callianthemum hondoense, a plant species that grows nowhere else in the world. Hikers encounter this rare flower along the Kusasuberi trails in the surrounding area as well.
