Kagawa University, Public university in Takamatsu, Japan
Kagawa University is a public institution in Takamatsu offering education across six major academic fields: Agriculture, Economics, Education, Engineering, Law, and Medicine. The urban campus serves both undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in these diverse disciplines.
The university was founded in 1949 through the merger of Kagawa Normal School, Kagawa Normal School for Youth, and Takamatsu College of Economics. This consolidation brought together three separate educational institutions into a single modern university.
The institution initiated international academic exchanges in 1975 when Faculty of Agriculture professors conducted research visits across Asia, Africa, and South America.
The campus is located in the city center, making it accessible by local transport and convenient for visitors. Guests can walk through the grounds freely to explore academic buildings, library facilities, and outdoor spaces.
The institution has gained recognition for developing the Space Tethered Autonomous Robotic Satellite project, which sent experimental spacecraft into orbit. An early spacecraft called STARS launched in 2009, with a follow-up mission called STARS-II arriving four years later.
