Asahi, Town in Shimoniikawa district, Toyama Prefecture, Japan
Located at the easternmost part of Toyama Prefecture, Asahi sits between the Japan Sea coast and the Northern Alps mountain range.
The town was established through the merger of seven municipalities including Tomare, Okasho, Gokasho, Sakai, Nampo, Miyazaki, and Yamazaki in 1954.
The Hisuikaisan Tarajiru Matsuri in October celebrates the local seafood traditions with a fish soup made from regional ingredients.
Visitors can reach Asahi through regular bus connections from major cities in Toyama Prefecture, with accommodations ranging from traditional inns to modern hotels.
The Jade Coast, designated as one of Japan's top 100 beaches, contains raw jade stones and offers swimming opportunities during summer months.
