Applause Tower, Modern high-rise building in Kita-ku, Japan

Applause Tower, officially the Hankyu Chayamachi Building, is a 161-metre skyscraper in the Chayamachi district of Kita-ku, Osaka, designed by Takenaka Corporation. Its floors are stacked by use: offices from the 9th to 23rd, hotel rooms of Hotel Hankyu International from the 26th to 34th, restaurants and a lounge on the 25th, and the Umeda Arts Theater with hotel front desk, restaurants and banquet rooms from the basement to the 7th floor. A heliport sits on the roof.

The tower was completed in 1992 as the Hankyu Chayamachi Building, designed by Takenaka Corporation. It was built on the initiative of Kohei Kobayashi as part of the "Kobayashi method", a strategy begun by Hankyu Railway founder Ichizo Kobayashi of drawing rail passengers with department stores and theatres at terminal stations. The theatre and hotel were thus part of the redevelopment of Chayamachi, in the area known as Hankyu-mura.

The tower serves as a mixed-use hub where office workers, shoppers, and hotel guests share the same building. A theater and dining venues create spaces where people gather for entertainment and meals.

The tower sits near Osaka Station, making it accessible by Hankyu Railway and Osaka Metro lines. Visitors can easily reach the building from multiple transit points in the city.

The building houses the Umeda Arts Theater, which spans from the basement up to the 7th floor. This theater remains a major venue for performances in the region.
