Kampot Province

Kampot Province extends over 4,873 square kilometers along the Gulf of Thailand, featuring low arable lands and the Elephant Mountains in the western region.

The province gained French administration status in 1907, becoming a vital trading port before the development of alternative maritime routes through Saigon and the Mekong.

The provincial capital maintains numerous 19th-century French colonial buildings, while local communities produce the internationally recognized geographical indication Kampot pepper.

The region divides into eight administrative districts, including Angkor Chey, Banteay Meas, Chhouk, Chum Kiri, Dang Tong, Kampong Trach, Tuek Chhou, and Kampot Municipality.

Salt production facilities line the coast, where workers extract sea salt from evaporation ponds using traditional methods passed through generations.
