Kratié Province

Kratié Province spans 11,094 square kilometers of land, featuring dense forests, mountainous areas, and hundreds of seasonally flooded islands along the Mekong River.

The province was established in 1907 during French colonial administration, emerging from territories that were previously part of the ancient Kingdom of Funan.

The province maintains seven indigenous groups alongside Khmer and Vietnamese communities, with Theravada Buddhism practiced by ninety-three percent of residents.

Transportation within Kratié Province connects through a network of roads linking districts, while the Mekong River serves as a vital waterway for local commerce.

The waters of Kratié Province provide a protected habitat for Irrawaddy dolphins, making it one of the few places where these rare mammals can be observed.
