Yeungnam University is a university in Gyeongsan, a quiet city near Daegu, South Korea. The campus spreads across a large area with over 160 buildings, green spaces, a small pond, and various facilities including cafeterias, bookstores, and student dormitories that support daily life.
The university was originally founded as Daegu University of Education and later became Yeungnam University. Since then, it has built connections with many universities worldwide and established its Korean Language Institute in 2002 to support international students.
The university's name Yeungnam reflects its historical connection to the region. On campus, you see international students from many countries meeting in cafeterias, studying together, or participating in language exchange programs, which gives the place a multicultural character.
The university is located in Gyeongsan and is easily walkable, with a subway ride to Daegu city center taking about 27 minutes. On campus you will find cafeterias, shops, cafes, and dormitories, and international students are permitted to work part-time under certain conditions.
The university's Korean Language Institute has taught around 250 students from different countries since 2002, with classes held four hours daily in small groups of 12 to 15 students. Learners can choose semester-long programs and regularly join guided cultural trips to experience Korea beyond classrooms.
