Wolchulsan National Park

Wolchulsan National Park is a protected mountain area near Yeongam with steep ridges, rocky formations, and different ecological zones at various elevations. The park contains several hiking routes, with one leading to Cheonhwangbong Peak at around 800 meters elevation.

The park was established in 1988 as one of Korea's newer protected areas with notable natural importance. It houses ancient Buddhist artworks, including a seated Buddha statue of significant cultural value.

Dogapsa Temple within the park shows traditional Korean Buddhist architecture and serves as a spiritual place for visitors and locals alike. People come here to pray and experience the religious practices that have continued through the generations.

The park is easily accessible from Yeongam, and hiking trails are clearly marked so you can find your way easily. Visitors should expect changing conditions on the paths, especially in higher areas where weather can shift quickly.

A suspension bridge connects two sections of the mountain trail across a deep valley and offers hikers a memorable experience. This exposed route requires a head for heights and rewards visitors with an intense sense of elevation.
