Savina Museum, Art museum in Jingwan-dong, Seoul, South Korea
The Savina Museum is a private contemporary art museum in Jingwan-dong, Eunpyeong-gu, in northern Seoul. It focuses mainly on Korean art from the 1990s onward, covering painting, sculpture, media, and digital art.
The museum started in 1996 as Gallery Savina in Insa-dong, then moved to Yulgok-ro in 2002 and officially became a nonprofit museum. In 2018, it relocated again to Jingwan-dong because the previous space had become too small for its growing programs.
The museum shows contemporary Korean art that connects local traditions with themes like science and nature. On the top floor, a meditation room and rooftop space invite visitors to pause and look out toward Mount Bukhan.
The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays. It can be reached by subway or bus from different parts of Seoul, and the building is accessible for visitors who use wheelchairs.
The building was designed around a triangular plot, with five floors that follow that same triangular form, and the permanent collection is built directly into the architecture. Artists and architects worked together on installations that cannot be separated from the rooms they occupy.
