National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Art museum in Cheongunhyoja-dong, South Korea
The National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art spans four floors containing exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, installations, and multimedia works from Korean and international artists.
Established in 1969 within Gyeongbokgung Palace, the museum relocated to Deoksugung in 1973 before finding its current location, where it opened in November 2013.
The museum organizes regular exhibitions, workshops, and educational programs that showcase contemporary Korean art alongside international works, fostering artistic dialogue and understanding.
Visitors can explore the museum from Thursday to Tuesday between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM, with extended hours until 9:00 PM on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
In 2021, the museum received 1,500 artworks from Lee Kun-hee's estate, substantially expanding its collection of modern and contemporary pieces.
