Cheongganjeong

Cheongganjeong is a wooden pavilion in Gangwon Province displaying traditional Korean architectural elements with detailed rooflines, supporting pillars, and expansive windows. The structure opens to the natural surroundings and creates an open space that frames the view of the landscape beyond.

The pavilion was built during the Joseon Dynasty as a gathering place for government officials and scholars. They assembled here to discuss literature and administrative affairs.

The name Cheongganjeong means Pavilion of Clear Stream, following the Korean custom of naming buildings after the natural features surrounding them.

The pavilion is accessible throughout the year and is located near walking trails and other historical sites. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes to explore the surroundings and connect multiple locations.

The pavilion stands in its original location overlooking landscapes that inspired scholars centuries ago. Visitors can experience today the same view that shaped the intellectual exchange of that era.
