Honghwamun, Main entrance gate in Jongno District, South Korea
The wooden structure of Honghwamun features ornamental tiles and stands as the principal entrance to Changgyeonggung Palace in Seoul's historical center.
Constructed in the early 15th century during the Joseon Dynasty, this gate underwent multiple restoration projects to maintain its original architectural elements.
The gate exhibits traditional Korean architectural elements through its wooden framework, curved roof design, and detailed structural compositions.
The gate can be accessed through Seoul Subway Line 4, with entry permitted from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM without requiring admission fees.
The underside of the gate reveals complex geometric patterns and colored drawings that demonstrate Korean craftsmen's technical abilities.
