Ablai Khan University is an institution in Almaty, Kazakhstan, focused on international relations and world languages with multiple buildings spread across a spacious campus. Founded in 1941 as the Almaty Pedagogical Institute of Foreign Languages during Soviet times, this school grew from a small classroom setting into a full university. It was renamed in 1998 to honor Ablai Khan and shifted its focus toward international relations and multilingual education.
The university bears the name of Ablai Khan, a historical leader, and this connection shapes how the place values international understanding and cooperation. This is the only school in Kazakhstan offering education in 14 different languages, including English, French, German, Chinese, Korean, Arabic, and Japanese.
