Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God

The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God is a Catholic cathedral in Karaganda that combines neo-Gothic and neoclassical architectural styles. The building has tall spires, stained glass windows, and a spacious interior with an altar and seating areas for worshippers.

Construction of this structure began in 2003 and Cardinal Angelo Sodano consecrated it in 2012, marking an important moment for Catholicism in Kazakhstan. International funding supported the project, which also served as a memorial to those who suffered in a nearby labor camp during the Soviet era.

The cathedral serves as a gathering place for Catholic worshippers in Central Asia and is a symbol of religious freedom in the region. People from different backgrounds come here to participate in services and find spiritual community.
