Sri Lanka Planetarium, Science museum and planetarium in Bauddhaloka district, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Planetarium features a 23-meter diameter dome ceiling where celestial projections display astronomical phenomena for educational purposes.
The planetarium opened in February 1965 as part of the Ceylon Industrial Exhibition, with funding provided by the German Democratic Republic.
The facility incorporates architectural elements from international structures, including the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and Cathedral of Brasilia.
The planetarium contains 570 seats and presents shows in English and Tamil from Monday through Saturday between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM.
The structure stands 21.33 meters high with a concrete folded plate roof that engineers pre-cast directly at the construction site.
