Castle Bridge

Castle Bridge is a stone structure that spans the Neris River between Old Town and the Antakalnis neighborhood. The bridge measures approximately 34 meters long and 20 meters wide, with steel railings decorated with heraldic shields and historical emblems.

The original structure from the 16th century served as a key connection point for trade routes and military positions. The bridge played an important role in linking different districts as Vilnius developed over time.

The bridge displays Lithuanian heraldic symbols on its railings that reflect the nation's identity. Visitors notice these decorative elements while crossing, which tell the story of different periods in the city's life.

The bridge connects Old Town directly to the Antakalnis neighborhood and sits near where the Neris and Vilnia rivers meet. When crossing, watch for uneven paving and take time to explore the surroundings for the best river views.

During a strength test, 600 soldiers with 6 cannons marched across the bridge to check its durability. This unusual test shows how carefully engineers checked the structure's stability.
