Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum

The museum spreads across 87 hectares near Lake Jugla, displaying 118 authentic historical buildings representing different regions of Latvia through the centuries.

Founded in 1924 and officially opened in 1932, the museum collected traditional rural buildings and artifacts to preserve Latvia's architectural heritage during urbanization.

The museum maintains four distinct sections representing Latvia's provinces of Kurzeme, Vidzeme, Zemgale, and Latgale, each with regional architectural characteristics.

Visitors can explore the grounds from 10:00 to 17:00 for indoor exhibits and until 20:00 for outdoor areas, with seasonal activities throughout the year.

The collection includes structures from the Russian Old Believers of Latgale and coastal fishing settlements of the Liiv people from Kurzeme.
