Al Wahda Dam, Embankment dam in Sidi Kacem Province, Morocco

The Al Wahda Dam stretches 1600 meters across the Ouergha River, rising 88 meters high and containing 28 million cubic meters of construction material.

Construction of this major infrastructure project started in 1991, and King Hassan II officially inaugurated the completed dam on March 20, 1997.

The dam transformed local agricultural practices by providing reliable water resources to over 110,000 hectares of farmland in the surrounding region.

Six floodgates control the spillway system, managing water discharge rates exceeding 13,000 cubic meters per second for effective flood prevention.

Three Francis turbines in the hydroelectric station generate 240 megawatts of power, reducing coal consumption by 140,000 metric tons annually.
