Church of St James, Victoria Gozo

The Church of St James in Victoria is a Catholic building featuring a symmetrical stone facade that displays traditional Maltese ecclesiastical architecture from the 18th century. The structure's balanced proportions and carved details are clearly visible from Independence Square.

The building suffered significant damage during a raid in 1551 and required reconstruction under Grand Master Ramon Despuig. This rebuilding shaped the structure that visitors see today.

The church plays a central role in local religious life and serves as a gathering point during important processions and celebrations throughout the year. Visitors can witness how deeply the community connection to this place remains embedded in everyday spiritual practices.
