Muscats Motors, Car dealership building on Rue D'Argens, Gżira, Malta
Muscats Motors is a car dealership building in Gżira that sells and services vehicles, particularly BMW, MINI, Jaguar, and Land Rover models. The structure displays horizontal lines, rounded corners, and smooth surfaces that give the building a flowing exterior appearance.
The original building was an Art Deco style garage constructed in 1934 that suffered damage during World War II while operating as a British military vehicle repair facility. The current structure was built in 1945 as a replacement following the destruction of its predecessor.
The building reflects how Gżira developed as a commercial hub in the post-war years. Its smooth facade and curved forms show how architects of that era designed modern business spaces.
The building is open Monday through Saturday and is located on Rue D'Argens in central Gżira. Visitors can easily pass by and view the distinctive architecture from outside without needing to enter the interior.
This is Malta's sole example of Streamline Moderne architecture and was designed by architect Joseph Colombo in 1945. The building earned Grade 2 protected status, underscoring its significance as a rare architectural example.
