Dreamflight, Dark ride at Efteling theme park, Netherlands
Dreamflight is a dark ride at the Efteling theme park where suspended vehicles carry visitors through five distinct realms. Each section features castles, forests, gardens, and magical landscapes populated with fantastical creatures and ethereal characters.
The attraction opened in 1993 following construction difficulties that required switching from the original manufacturer CPM to Translift and BHS. This transition was necessary to overcome technical obstacles and complete the ride system.
The ride weaves together depictions of European folklore, featuring fairies, trolls, and forest spirits that visitors encounter along the route. These elements reflect how such mythical beings appear in traditional stories across different regions.
The ride is not accessible for people with mobility limitations, and children under one meter in height require an adult companion. Items such as selfie sticks and similar objects are prohibited during the experience.
The route features more than 48 animated fairies scattered throughout, along with over one million artificial flowers and countless live plants integrated into the scenery. This rich combination of moving characters and dense vegetation creates a layered world where something new reveals itself at every turn.
