Lichttoren, Industrial heritage building in Eindhoven, Netherlands
The Lichttoren rises from Emmasingel street with its rectangular tower structure and large windows spanning multiple floors of the building.
The Lichttoren, designed by architect Dirk Roosenburg in 1921, functioned as Philips' light bulb testing facility until the late 1990s.
The building carries the Rijksmonument designation, preserving the industrial architectural elements that reflect the manufacturing history of Eindhoven.
Grand Café de Lichttoren occupies the first floor, offering 300 indoor seats, a city terrace, and stands six minutes from Eindhoven Central Station.
Engineers used the tower's height to test light bulb endurance, with the illuminated experiments visible across the city during the early 20th century.
