Miniworld Rotterdam, Indoor miniature park near Central Station in Rotterdam, Netherlands
Miniworld Rotterdam is an indoor miniature park in Rotterdam, Netherlands, showing detailed scale models of the city and the surrounding Dutch landscape. The exhibition is laid out across several themed sections, from the city center to polders and coastal areas, all filled with tiny figures going about their daily routines.
The park opened in 2007 and from the start included reconstructions of buildings that were destroyed during World War II, such as Hofplein station and Delft Gate. These models offer a rare chance to see what parts of Rotterdam looked like before the wartime bombing.
The displays show Rotterdam's skyline alongside Dutch polder landscapes, giving visitors a side-by-side view of urban and rural life in the Netherlands. Many of the tiny scenes show people going about everyday activities, which makes the models feel lived-in rather than purely decorative.
The park is a short walk from Rotterdam Centraal station, making it easy to reach without a car. A visit typically takes one to two hours depending on how much time you spend at each section.
Every 24 minutes the entire display shifts from day to night, with thousands of tiny lights turning on across the scenes. The same model can look completely different depending on when you happen to be standing in front of it.
