Miniworld Rotterdam, Indoor miniature park near Central Station in Rotterdam, Netherlands
Miniworld Rotterdam is an indoor exhibition spanning about 650 square meters with detailed miniature landscapes of Rotterdam, Dutch polders, and coastal regions. The scenes are populated with about 27,000 tiny figures and showcase different aspects of the area.
The miniature museum opened in 2007 and includes reconstructions of buildings destroyed during World War II, such as Hofplein station and Delft Gate. These recreations preserve the memory of lost architecture and provide an impression of how the city looked before the war.
The miniature displays showcase Dutch architecture through scale models of well-known buildings and traditional structures that visitors can explore from different viewpoints.
The location is less than 400 meters from the main train station and easy to reach. On site there is a family restaurant, a gift shop, and behind-the-scenes tours are available.
Every 24 minutes the entire miniature world transitions from daylight to darkness, with thousands of tiny lights switching on in the scenes. This change creates a dramatic shift in perception and allows visitors to see two completely different aspects of the same display.
