Symbolica, Dark ride in Efteling theme park, Netherlands
Symbolica is a palace ride in Efteling, a theme park in Loon op Zand in the Netherlands. Trackless vehicles move through halls with chandeliers, armour and animated figures, with each path revealing different rooms.
The palace opened in July 2017 as a new indoor attraction with free-moving vehicles. The facility replaced earlier exhibition spaces in the same area of the park.
The name comes from the Latin ‚symbolum' for emblem, as each room carries its own sign. Visitors follow a butler through chambers filled with talking objects and moving furniture.
Three routes lead through different sections, so repeat rides can be worthwhile. The facility sits near the eastern park entrance.
Each carriage selects its own path through the building without guests needing to steer. Sensors in the floor guide the vehicles through one of three possible stories.
