Artscape Nordland, Sculpture garden in Norway
Artscape Nordland is an international art exhibition under open skies that extends across multiple municipalities in Northern Norway. The collection features sculptures and art installations distributed at different locations throughout the region.
The project began in the 1990s as an initiative to energize the Northern Norwegian art scene. Over time, works by artists from different countries were added to build an international art network.
The artworks were created in direct dialogue with the Northern Norwegian landscape. Artists designed their pieces specifically for these locations to establish a connection between art and nature.
The artworks are scattered across a large geographic area, so it makes sense to plan several days for exploration. The best time to visit is during the summer months when the weather is more stable and daylight extends much longer.
Many of the artworks change appearance with the seasons and shifting light conditions of Northern Norwegian nature. This makes each visit a different experience depending on when you come and how nature currently looks.
