Christian Gerhard Ameln Sundt established the original store in 1845, and architect Per Grieg designed the current functionalist structure completed in 1938.
The building received protection status in 1988 to preserve its functionalist architecture, including the original interior design and retail heritage.
The department store operates from Monday through Friday between 9 AM and 9 PM, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 6 PM with wheelchair access.
The store introduced one of Norway's first escalators when it opened, marking a new era in retail architecture with its innovative glass facade.
