Maguindanao del Sur

Maguindanao del Sur encompasses 24 municipalities across rolling hills and rivers within the southern region of Mindanao, bordered by Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat provinces.

The province emerged from the division of Maguindanao through a public vote on September 17, 2022, establishing Buluan as its capital and administrative center.

The Maguindanaon people form the primary population group in the province, maintaining their traditional practices, languages, and religious customs throughout the municipalities.

Agriculture dominates the local economy with rice and corn production, while the provincial government operates from its headquarters in the municipality of Buluan.

The kulintang music tradition, featuring brass gong ensembles, remains an essential element of community gatherings and celebrations throughout Maguindanao del Sur.
