Maguindanao del Sur

Maguindanao del Sur is a province with 24 municipalities located in the Bangsamoro region of Mindanao. The land features rolling terrain, rivers, and farming areas situated between Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat provinces.

The province was created through the division of the original Maguindanao in 2022. Buluan was established as its capital and main administrative center.

The Maguindanaon people are the main inhabitants here, speaking their own language and practicing Islam as part of daily life. You can see their traditions in homes, at markets, and during community celebrations.

The economy relies mainly on farming, with rice and corn grown across many communities. The provincial administration is based in Buluan, which serves as the main hub for official matters.

The kulintang is a traditional music made with brass gong ensembles that people play at festivals and gatherings. This old art form remains an important part of community life today.
