Bhir Mound, Archaeological site in Taxila, Pakistan
The excavated area spans approximately one kilometer by 600 meters, featuring narrow streets and houses built around internal courtyards without external windows.
Excavations conducted between 1913 and 1925 by Sir John Marshall revealed substantial structures dating from 800 to 525 BC at this ancient settlement.
The site contains evidence of Buddhist influences during the Mauryan period, when Taxila developed into a center for Buddhist learning and monastic activities.
Visitors can observe the remains of ancient stone buildings, street layouts, and architectural elements that showcase early urban development in South Asia.
A collection of Achaemenid and Greek coins discovered at the site demonstrates the extensive trade connections between different civilizations in antiquity.
