Tomb of Nadira Begum

Tomb of Nadira Begum is a Mughal mausoleum in Lahore situated on a raised platform within a sunken water tank. The structure rises in two stories with a symmetrical design, accessed through an arched entrance on the ground floor that leads through a rectangular gallery to the main chamber.

The mausoleum was built in 1698 to house the remains of Nadira Banu Begum. She was the wife of an important Mughal-era figure who held power in Lahore during the 1640s.

The interior displays traditional Mughal craftsmanship through detailed ceiling work and decorative surface treatments. These handmade elements reflect how much care went into honoring the person buried here.

The entrance is located on the lower level and provides access through the vaulted passage. The best time to visit is early morning when the water is calm and light falls clearly on the structure.

Unlike most traditional Mughal tombs surrounded by gardens, this structure stands within a water tank that creates a distinctive setting. The water frames the building and gives it an unusual floating appearance in the urban landscape.
