Naukot Fort, Military fort in Mithi Taluka, Pakistan.
Naukot Fort is a military fort in Mithi Taluka, Pakistan, featuring nine semi-circular bastions and a four-meter-wide surrounding wall. The four-sided structure contains multiple rooms and halls that visitors can reach through a causeway.
Mir Karam Ali Khan Talpur built the fort in 1810 to defend the region from Rajput attacks. British forces captured it in 1843, ending its role as a military stronghold.
The fort displays traditional Sindh architecture through its construction methods, built from burnt bricks laid in mud mortar without any wood or iron. This building technique shapes how the walls and chambers appear to visitors today.
Access to the inner sections is provided through a causeway. Visitors should be prepared for uneven ground and the narrow passages that connect the various rooms throughout the structure.
Inside the fort sits a central four-sided structure with a very narrow entrance that controlled movement carefully. This design reveals how defense was focused on limiting who could enter and move through the space.
