Pasterka, Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Mountain village in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, Poland.
Pasterka is a mountain village in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship of Poland, set among the sandstone formations of the Table Mountains National Park. It lies directly along the main trails that lead up toward Szczeliniec Wielki, the highest point in the range.
The village was part of Lower Silesia, a region that changed hands between Polish, Bohemian, and later Prussian rulers over several centuries. After World War II, the area was returned to Poland and resettled by a new population.
Pasterka sits at the foot of the highest peak in the Table Mountains and is known among hikers as a starting point for the ascent. Small guesthouses and rest spots in the village are oriented toward visitors arriving on foot from the surrounding trails.
Pasterka is reached by local roads from the nearby town of Radków and serves as a base for those exploring the Table Mountains area. Sturdy footwear is a good idea, as the terrain around the village can be uneven and conditions in the mountains change quickly.
The path up to Szczeliniec Wielki passes through a staircase carved directly into the sandstone rock face, making the climb feel more like walking through a narrow canyon than a typical mountain trail. On clear days, the view from the top extends across parts of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany at the same time.
