Osiedle Witosa is a residential district in the northwestern part of Katowice that spreads across several square kilometers. The area is characterized by apartment blocks and sits along the boundaries with Załęże and Chorzów.
The area emerged from the 17th century settlement of Obroki and initially developed as a sheep farming estate. Modern development took shape in the 20th century, especially after the decline of mining in the region.
The Parish of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross and St. Herbert draws people together as a gathering place and shapes how residents interact in their community.
The neighborhood is well connected by public transportation with several bus lines serving the area. Proximity to the A4 motorway makes it easy to reach other parts of the city or neighboring municipalities.
The Kleofas coal mine closed in the 1990s, marking the end of mining industry in this area. This closure transformed the former industrial zone into a purely residential neighborhood.
