Granaty, Mountain peak in Tatra Mountains, Poland.
Granaty is a mountain massif in the Tatras featuring three main summits reaching 2240 meters that are connected by saddle passes. The ridges form a dramatic rocky skyline visible from many vantage points in the range.
The first ascent took place in 1867 when three mountaineers conquered the peak through challenging rocky terrain. This early climb marked an important step in opening up the high ridges of the Tatras to mountaineers.
The mountain draws climbers to its western slopes, where the varied rock formations offer different types of climbing challenges that appeal to both experienced and intermediate mountaineers.
The climb starts from Zakopane and follows well-marked mountain paths that pass through a mountain hut before the main ascent. Proper hiking boots and experience at altitude make the journey more manageable.
A notable feature is the Drége's Couloir, a distinctive rocky gully named after mountaineer Jan Drége that has hosted important climbing events over the years. This formation remains a focal point for advanced technical climbs on the mountain.
