Szare Berdo, Mountain peak in Western Bieszczady, Poland
Szare Berdo is a mountain summit in the Western Bieszczady range positioned at 1108 meters between two adjacent peaks. The mountain features gentle slopes and a ridge that runs in a northwest-southeast direction.
The mountain is part of a long-established route through the Carpathians that has served as a traditional hiking path for decades. The passage connects different valleys and has become an important link in the region.
The name comes from local naming traditions and refers to the gray-toned rocks and soil visible throughout the area. Visitors notice this gray coloration clearly while hiking upward.
Hiking trails pass through dense forests and open meadows with several access points from surrounding river valleys. Good footwear and preparation are advisable since conditions vary greatly depending on the season.
The summit creates two distinct environments on its eastern and western slopes, where plant life and weather patterns differ noticeably. This spatial separation becomes apparent when hiking between the two sides.
