Willa Podgórskich in Warsaw

Willa Podgórskich is a two-story residence at Powsinska 104 with white walls, classical proportions, and a symmetrical facade with rectangular windows. The building displays typical prewar architecture with clean lines and regular window arrangements.

During the 1939 defense of Warsaw, the building served as a military headquarters for Polish units protecting the southern district of the capital. It thus played an important role in the early wartime events affecting the city.

Today the building functions as an art gallery with permanent displays of sculptures and works by Katarzyna Piskorska, alongside rotating exhibitions from other artists. This creative use draws visitors interested in contemporary visual art to the neighborhood.

The building is easily accessible and located in an established residential area with good street connections. Visitors will notice the air quality monitoring equipment installed there, showing that the site is actively maintained and used today.

During martial law in the 1980s, a secret printing press operated in the basement, producing underground resistance publications. This hidden activity shows how the building continued to serve as a site of resistance long after the war ended.
