Kołowa Czuba, Mountain summit in Tatra Mountains, Poland.
Kołowa Czuba is a summit in the High Tatras rising to approximately 2,100 meters. The peak sits between the Valley of Five Polish Lakes and smaller adjacent valleys, marked by steep rock faces on multiple sides.
This peak remained exposed above the ice during the last glacial period as a nunatak. Geographer Stanisław Lencewicz recorded this geological fact about the mountain's past.
The name comes from the stepped appearance of horizontal terraces running across its slopes. This distinctive feature shapes how locals and climbers perceive the peak.
The easiest approach is from the northwest through Dolinka pod Kołem valley. The eastern face requires technical climbing skills and should only be attempted by experienced mountaineers.
The first documented ascent of the challenging eastern wall happened on July 23, 1931. Three mountaineers achieved this technical climb: Marian Gotkiewicz, Adam Niesiołowski, and Antoni Stolfa.
