Corpus Christi church in Poznań is a three-nave hall church with Gothic elements that shape the city's skyline. Its interior features colorful brick portals, original 15th-century stone tracery in the chancel, and Baroque stucco vaulting.
The church was founded in 1406 by King Władysław Jagiełło following the discovery of three sacred Hosts. Construction spanned many decades before completion in 1470.
The church displays portraits of King Władysław Jagiełło and Queen Jadwiga from the 17th century on its walls. These royal images shape the interior and reflect the historical connection between the monarchy and this sacred space.
The church stands at Strzelecka Street 40 near the Warta River and bears marks of past floods. Access is straightforward, though visitors should expect uneven period floors and limited interior space.
The church holds a 15th-century monstrance that may have origins in the Battle of Grunwald spoils. This precious object is among the most treasured artifacts in this sacred place and speaks to its storied past.
