Stary Browar, Shopping and art center at Półwiejska Street, Poznań, Poland.
Stary Browar is a shopping and art center on Półwiejska Street in Poznań that spreads across several connected brick buildings. The walkways lead through former brewery halls with high ceilings, open courtyards, and galleries on multiple levels.
The site started in 1844 as a brewery run by the Hugger family and produced beer until 1980. After renovation, the complex reopened in 2003 as a retail and cultural venue.
The name recalls its brewing past, while the brick walls and iron beams frame art installations and remind visitors of its industrial roots. People gather in the courtyards for concerts and walk past sculptures placed among the shops.
The center sits close to the city center and offers parking beneath the buildings as well as step-free access to all areas. Shops close around 21:00 in the evening, while galleries and cafés keep different hours.
Beneath the old brewery buildings runs a modern data center that combines 19th-century architecture with digital infrastructure. The vaulted cellars now house servers and network equipment instead of beer barrels.
