Kazimierz Wielki bridge, Steel bridge in Bydgoszcz, Poland

The Kazimierz Wielki Bridge crosses the Brda River with a length of roughly 246 meters and connects the districts of Bartodzieje and Kapuściska. The structure is divided into five distinct sections and accommodates both cars and people on foot.

Construction started in the early 2000s as part of a municipal plan to manage increasing traffic demands across Bydgoszcz. The project's completion improved the link between the two districts significantly.

The bridge takes its name from King Casimir III, a 14th-century ruler who reformed and strengthened the Polish state. This naming connects the crossing to Poland's medieval past.

The crossing has separate lanes for cars and wide sidewalks for walkers, making the passage safe and straightforward. Both directions are clearly marked, and the link between the eastern and western sides works well.

The structure has a sophisticated drainage system with cast iron drains that collect rainwater and direct it to collectors beneath the deck. This system keeps the surface dry and helps the bridge last longer.
