Ogród Dendrologiczny im. Stefana Kownasa, Dendrological garden in Niebuszewo-Bolinko district, Szczecin, Poland.
Ogród Dendrologiczny im. Stefana Kownasa is a tree and shrub collection spread across terraced grounds with multiple levels. The garden displays over 80 plant species including pedunculate oaks, small-leaved lindens, horse chestnuts, and hundreds of yew trees arranged throughout the space.
The garden was established in 1973 on the grounds of the former Majdański Cemetery. It was named in honor of Stefan Kownas, a botanist who led the botany department at the Szczecin Agricultural Academy.
The garden follows the original cemetery path layout with salvaged tombstone fragments built into walls along the north and south edges. This arrangement creates a reflective setting where visitors experience how the space honors its past residents.
The grounds are arranged in terraced levels, allowing visitors to choose different paths depending on their fitness level. Walking through all sections is possible, though the time needed varies based on pace and areas of interest.
The garden is home to two exceptionally rare three-colored purple beech trees with unusually thick trunks. There is also an ash tree whose stems are completely covered in ivy, creating an interesting green network around the wood.
