Muzeum Miejskie "Sztygarka"

Sztygarka City Museum occupies a historic building from 1842 and focuses on the mining heritage of this industrial region. It displays geological specimens, mining equipment, archaeological finds, and a collection of objects gathered from different parts of the world.

Founded in 1912 as the Zygmunt Gloger Geological Museum, it began when mining school students collected the first exhibits for teaching purposes. The 19th-century building itself reflects the importance mining held in shaping this city's development.

The collection displays traditional clothing and objects from India, Papua New Guinea, South America, and Madagascar, showing how different cultures have connected across the world. These items reveal the interest this city had in understanding people and traditions far beyond its own region.

The museum preserves the office of the first Mayor of Dąbrowa Górnicza, offering a look into the city's early administration. Inside it also houses the Metallurgist Treasury, a collection from the 12th century that documents the long history of metalworking in this region.
