Park Staromiejski w Łodzi, Municipal park in central Łódź, Poland
Park Staromiejski is a 17-hectare green space in central Łódź with multiple pathways, a pond, a solar clock, sculptures, and fountains. It provides recreational areas and amenities designed for visitors of all ages.
The park was established between 1951 and 1953 on the former site of a Jewish neighborhood that was demolished during World War II. This location marked the boundary of the Litzmannstadt Ghetto during the war.
The park honors its heritage with the Decalogue Monument and subtle design features that reference the historical Jewish neighborhood. Illuminated pathways and garden layouts invite visitors to explore this commemorative landscape while walking through.
The park has renovated accessible entrances and public restrooms distributed throughout the grounds. Visitors will find playgrounds for different age groups, chess tables, and a skating track.
The underground Łódka River flows beneath the park, with its historical course marked by illuminated elements and water features. This integration of the hidden river into the landscape creates a subtle connection to the location's former geography.
