The park extends over 5.24 hectares and features a diverse collection of trees including pines, larches, oaks, limes, robinias, elms, maples, and poplars.
The park's origins date to 1780 with the construction of Grochowski Manor by Primate Michał Poniatowski, and in 1924 the Wierzbicki family acquired and transformed the grounds.
A theater stage operated in the park until the 1960s, providing a platform for artistic performances and community gatherings in the Praga-Południe neighborhood.
The park includes dedicated areas for different activities, such as a children's playground, sports facilities, and an enclosed dog exercise area.
The park received its current name in 2005, honoring Colonel Jan Szypowski, who led the 'Leśnik' combat group during the Warsaw Uprising.
