Przysłop, Mountain hamlet in Zawoja, Poland
Przysłop is a mountain hamlet situated at about 700 meters elevation in Gmina Zawoja, spreading across southern and eastern slopes of Mount Magurka as well as northeastern slopes of Mount Kiczora. The terrain here is steep and forested, typical of this part of the Beskidy Mountains.
From 1975 to 1998, the settlement was administratively part of Bielskie Voivodeship. A regional restructuring in 1998 transferred it to Lesser Poland Voivodeship, where it remains today.
The Carmelite Monastery shapes how the hamlet functions as a spiritual place where monks maintain educational paths through the surrounding woods. Visitors can observe how religious life and environmental care are woven into daily routines here.
The hamlet is accessible by road, though steep mountain passages require careful driving. Several hiking trails lead from here to Sucha Beskidzka and Zawoja below, offering routes that take five to six hours of walking through forests and meadows.
A wind turbine erected by monks in 1996 still stands on the slopes as an unusual example of environmental initiative in this remote mountain area. The installation shows how the religious community engaged with sustainable energy practices decades before it became common.
