Monument to the Scouts of September, Katowice, War memorial in Plac Obrońców, Katowice, Poland

The Monument to the Scouts of September in Katowice features four bronze figures emerging from a fractured wall. A granite obelisk stands alongside the sculpture at this location near the city center.

During September 1939, scouts defended Katowice for two days against German forces after military commanders withdrew from the region. This contribution of young people to the city's defense is documented through the memorial unveiled in 1983.

The inscription 'All that is ours to give, we shall give to Poland' captures the commitment young people made to their nation. These words remain visible on the memorial and reflect how scouts expressed their dedication to their homeland.

The memorial is located near the central market square and can be reached on foot from the main downtown areas. The open space around it offers good views from all angles.

The sculpture was created by artist Michał Brachmański and honors both male and female scouts who participated in the defense. This recognition of young women's role in resistance during the conflict was significant at the time it was installed.
