Port of Łeba, Maritime port in Łeba, Poland
The Port of Łeba is a fishing and leisure harbour on the Baltic coast, set at the mouth of the Łeba River where it meets the sea. It has berths for fishing vessels as well as sailing and motor boats of different sizes, most equipped with water and electricity connections.
The harbour was originally built to shelter vessels from Baltic storms and grew over generations into a key fishing and supply point for the region. In 2001, the western breakwater was reinforced to give ships better protection during heavy weather.
Local fishing boats carry the marking ŁEB on their hulls, showing that Łeba is their home port. This simple detail makes it easy to spot the working boats among the leisure vessels tied up at the docks.
The port is in active use year-round and is easy to walk around along the quays. Early morning is when the fishing crews are busiest, so visiting later in the day gives a calmer experience.
A maritime rescue station is based inside the port, with a rescue vessel on standby at all times of day and night. This station covers a large stretch of the southern Baltic Sea.
