Canedo, Rural parish in Aveiro, Portugal.
Parada e Faílde is a rural parish in the municipality of Aveiro, in northern Portugal, made up of farmland, scattered houses, and low rolling hills. The parish combines two historic villages that together form a single administrative unit within the broader Aveiro district.
Parada and Faílde were separate parishes for centuries, each with its own community life and local structures. The 2013 Portuguese administrative reform brought them together into a single parish.
The name Parada e Faílde reflects the union of two originally separate villages, each with its own small church and cluster of houses. Walking between these two centres today, visitors can still sense the distinct character of each settlement.
A car is the most practical way to get around, as public transport connections are limited in this part of the Aveiro municipality. The town of Aveiro is nearby, making it easy to combine a visit here with a trip to the city.
Despite being united administratively, the two villages have never merged into a single built-up area and remain physically separated by open fields. A traveler crossing the parish can see two distinct clusters of buildings connected only by rural paths.
