Located in the western Algarve region, Praia do Burgau stretches 350 meters along the coast, surrounded by steep cliffs and featuring soft golden sand.
The nearby Fort of Almádena, constructed in 1632, served as a coastal defense structure until an earthquake in 1755 caused substantial damage.
Traditional fishing boats line the beach's eastern section, reflecting the maritime heritage of this former fishing community in the Algarve region.
The beach provides amenities including lifeguard services from June to September, sun lounger rentals, restaurants, and convenient access to the village center.
During low tide, natural pools form between the rocks, creating small ecosystems where visitors can observe starfish, crabs, and small fish.
